Hasenfeld-Stein Launches FireCushion

(IDEX Online News) – New York-based Sightholder Hasenfeld-Stein has announced that following the launch of its patent-pending FireCushion, and the FireCushion Forevermark diamonds in Las Vegas, more than 50 retailers, representing over 100 doors, signed up to be exclusive vendors of the diamond.

 

The diamonds, which are classified as Cushion-Brilliant (not Modified Brilliant) by the GIA, and rated “Excellent” in both polish and symmetry, are only available at independent retail jewelers in the US and Canada.

 

The company said the FireCushion appears to be at least 15-percent larger than regular cushions of the same weight. This look is achieved by cutting facets directly from girdle to culet. Regular cushions, on the other hand, are typically cut with a large “belly,” which adds weight to the stone.  

 

“A FireCushion will be about 15 percent lighter than a typical cushion of the same dimensions. So consumers can enjoy either a size advantage, or a price advantage. It’s [a] win-win for both retailers and their customers,” the company said in a press release. 

 

“This was the next logical progression for our company,” said Hertz Hasenfeld, president of Hasenfeld-Stein, who created the FireCushion. “Most diamond manufacturers cut crystal rough to maximize weight. We always cut weight to maximize the diamond’s beauty. And we keep our parameters extremely tight.”

 

The company also stressed that all of its diamonds are cut for maximum light return. “Every FireCushion has a minimum 95-percent light return. This is a direct result of its patent pending, proprietary cutting. In addition... FireCushions are more square, (maximum 1.00 : 1.05 length-to-width ratio), and are priced off the Fancies List, not the Rounds list.”
