World’s Most Expensive Cake Features 4,000 Precious Stones

September 09, 15 by Danielle Max

(IDEX Online News) – If the hundreds of diamonds decorating it don’t cause you to choke, the price tag of the world’s most expensive cake might just do the job. Designed for the engagement and birthday of the daughter of a wealthy Arab family, the fashion catwalk cake cost almost a whopping £50 million ($76.8 million) and is encrusted with 4,000 precious stones.

According to Business Insider, the 450 kg cake features 400 1-carat white diamonds, 73 3-carat white diamonds, 73 3-carat black diamonds, a 5.2-carat pink diamond, a 6.4-carat yellow diamond and 15 5-carat white diamonds.

In addition, there are roughly another 3,400 stones scattered through the cake, including amethyst and emeralds.

Created by former fashion designer turned cake creator Debbie Wingham, the cake is nearly 2 meters long and features edible versions of the designer’s haute couture styles.

There was no information about whether lucky party goers got to keep the stones adorning their cake slices.
