Gal Gadot Wears the Audrey Hepburn Tiffany Diamond

August 24, 20 by John Jeffay

(IDEX Online) - The priceless yellow Tiffany Diamond is to make a new screen appearance, in Kenneth Branagh's new movie Death on the Nile.

The cushion-shape brilliant, weighing 128.54 carats with an unprecedented 82 facets - 24 more facets than usual - was discovered at the Kimberley diamond mines in South Africa in 1877.

Audrey Hepburn wore it in publicity photographs the 1961 classic Breakfast at Tiffany's and now Israeli actress Gal Gadot - best known as Wonder Woman - wears it an adaptation of the classic Agatha Christie whodunnit, to be released on 23 October.

The rough 287.42-carat stone was bought by Tiffany & Co founder Charles Lewis Tiffany for $18,000 and cut in Paris to enhance its radiant color rather than size.  Current estimates suggest it could be worth $30m.

The Tiffany Stone was last seen in public when Lady Gaga won an Oscar for her song Shallow from the movie A Star Is Born.
