Flawless 10.2-ct Pink Could Fetch $12m

(IDEX Online) - An internally flawless 10.20-carat fancy intense pink diamond is expected to sell for up to $12m next month at Christie's New York.
The auction house describes it as the most significant gem of its kind that they've offered since the 12.04-carat Martian Pink, which sold in 2012 for $17.4m - or $1.45m per carat.
The Type IIa Eden Rose is notable for its complete absence of any secondary color, say Christie's, unlike many pinks, which display purple, orange, or gray hues.
"Given its rarity, we are anticipating significant interest from around the world," said Rahul Kadakia, Christie's international head of jewelry.
"The Eden Rose has never been offered at auction and we are proud to be presenting a jewel of its unmatched caliber for the first time."
The gem, with an estimate of $9m to $12m, will lead the of New York Magnificent Jewels auction on June 11, 2024, as part of Christie's Luxury Week.
The current record for a pink diamond sold at auction is held by the CTF Pink Star, a 59.60-carat oval mixed-cut fancy vivid pink, internally flawless diamond which was auctioned at Sotheby's Hong Kong in April 2017 for $71.2m.
