July 13, 04 by Albert Robinson

SODIAM, the Angolan government body that holds exclusive rights for developing and marketing the country’s diamonds, will announce Wednesday the opening of a joint venture with Israeli diamond magnate Lev Leviev.

Manuel de Sousa Calado, chairman of state diamond firm Endiama that owns SODIAM, is leading a delegation to a major two-day rough diamond conference in Tel Aviv that ends today (Tuesday) and will take part in a news conference on Wednesday to announce the joint venture for the marketing of Angolan diamonds.

Israeli Finance Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will be the guest of honor at the news conference to announce the new company to be called SODIAM International Ltd-Israel.
