IDEX Poll: Most Sellers Never Asked to Prove Goods are Conflict Free

July 14, 05 by Edahn Golan

Is it possible that despite all the talk, the issue of Conflict Diamonds is really no issue? According to the latest IDEX Online Poll, that just might be the case. We asked our members, “During a sale, are you asked to prove that your diamonds are conflict free?” 75 percent of respondents said that they are never asked.

17 percent of respondents said that they are asked “On Occasion”, while 8 percent of respondents said “50 / 50”. None of the respondents said they are “Always asked”.

This week we focus on the issue of synthetic diamonds. Some view it as a threat to our industry while others feel it is a negligible issue. But what we want to know is - will you consider selling synthetic diamonds? Let us know where you stand on this issue.
