IDEX Poll: We’ll Be Back, Maybe

July 28, 05 by Edahn Golan

Bad weather and water dripping power lines did not leave a good impression and might keep exhibitors and visitors away from the International Jewellery Show (IIJS) next year in Mumbai, India, indicates the latest IDEX Online poll.

We asked “Will you return to IIJS next year?” and over a third, 36 percent of respondents, said Yes. But this yes is conditional – another 18 percent replied “Only if held in a permanent structure”.

However, nearly half of respondents are less positive. 23 percent said they are Not Sure and another 23 percent said No, perhaps a signal to organizers to consider better facilities for this important show next year.

Following recent events at the Israeli Exchange, this week we are asking “How should the diamond exchanges handle bankruptcies?” You are invited to go to our homepage and place your vote on this hot issue.

And while on the topic of hot issues, our recent poll regarding synthetics must have hit a nerve, keeping our email inbox busy and drawing a host of responses. It seems from them that our industry is still debating the validity and place synthetics should have. You are welcome to further discuss this in our News forum.
