Signet Seeking Direct Rough Diamond Sourcing

December 21, 05 by IDEX Online Staff Reporter

British jewelry retailer Signet announced it is further developing its rough diamond sourcing and manufacturing capabilities. The company said it wants rough diamonds supplies from several sources and is retaining the services of Diamond Trading Company (DTC) broker Hennig as its strategic consultant.

Signet, the world’s largest diamond jewelry retailer, said it has taken “important steps in securing supplies of diamonds by further developing its rough diamond sourcing and manufacturing capabilities,” adding that the rough goods will be polished in “state-of-the-art manufacturing units.”

The objective of the initiative is to secure additional, reliable and consistent supplies of diamonds and ensure a continuously availability of desired sizes and qualities of diamonds for its customers, the company said in a release.
