16 Namdeb Employees Arrested On Diamond Theft Charges

Sixteen Namdeb employees were arrested last Tuesday on diamond theft charges. Though the value of the theft is unknown, it is understood that the group's actions have been going on for some time.

A Namdeb spokesperson told the local newspaper The Namibian, that the suspects were observed over a period of time. On the day of the arrest, they were caught with diamonds, which Namdeb handed over to the police as evidence.

According to reports in the Namibian press, the 16 suspects all worked the same shift at the diamond mine in Oranjemund.

Following the arrests, the plant at the mine was shut down for most of day.
