Ontario Appoints Diamond Valuer for De Beers’ Victor Mine

May 27, 08 by IDEX Online Staff Reporter

Diamonds International Canada (DICAN), a partnership between Aboriginal Diamonds Group (ADG) and WWW International Diamond Consultants, has been appointed to assess the value of diamonds produced at De Beers’ Canadian Victor mine by the government of Ontario.

According to Mining Weekly, DICAN will evaluate the production in order to establish a market value and determine the royalties to be paid on production. DICAN will also advise the government on valuation and auditing of diamond production.

DICAN is 51 percent owned by ADG and also acts as a diamond valuer for the government in the northern Canadian provinces of Northwest Territories and Nunavut. Both are based in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories.

The Victor mine, Ontario’s first, is expected to enter production by mid-2008.
