Art Contest In Aid Of Diamond Workers’ Welfare

April 20, 11 by Vinod Kuriyan

(IDEX Online News)
- In a unique initiative aimed at improving the plight of diamond workers, manufacturers Dharmanandan Diamonds, in conjunction with the Gujarat Kala Pratishthan, an arts promotion group, held an art contest in Surat with the theme, “Diamond — A Symbol Of Love”.

Some 250 artists participating in the event expressed the theme on canvas. All participants, from the winner downward to the last participant, received a cash prize, according to a Dharmanandan press release.

The paintings will be auctioned at art galleries in Mumbai and Surat, with the proceeds to be donated to NGOs that support the health and welfare of diamond workers’ families.
