August 21, 11 by Edahn Golan

(IDEX Online News)
– After two months of easing exports, India's net polished diamond exports in July grew month over month, but declined compared to last year. Net exports in July stood at $492.4 million, up 6.6 percent compared to June yet 5.6 percent below net exports in July 2010.

This is the second month in a row that year-over-year net exports are declining.

The volume of net trade is estimated at 1.5 million carats at $329.79 per carat, based on provisional GJEPC figures released Friday.

India's gross exports of 4.9 million carats are valued at $1.92 billion, falling 10.9 percent in volume and 8.2 percent in value compared to last year.

Imports of 3.4 million carats valued at $1.43 billion, falling 13.7 percent and 9.0 percent respectively.
