GIA is First Diamond Laboratory Certified by RJC

(IDEX Online News) – GIA, an international authority on diamonds, has achieved certification by the Responsible Jewellery Council. GIA is the first gemological laboratory that achieves RJC certification.

“The RJC certification epitomizes GIA’s 80-year legacy of establishing and maintaining industry standards worldwide,” said Donna Baker, president and CEO of GIA.

“Both the RJC and GIA share the commitment to safeguarding the public trust in gems and jewelry—GIA through laboratory services, education programs, research developments and disclosure; and the RJC in supporting standards of conduct that include human rights, social responsibility and environmental performance.”

The certification states that GIA meets the ethical, human rights, social and environmental standards as established by the RJC’s Member Certification System.

RJC’s CEO Michael Rae congratulated GIA on its certification on RJC's behalf.
