The IDEX Online Polished Price Report for June 7, 2012

(IDEX Online News) – Prices of polished diamonds were stable this week, as traders and jewelers were busy at JCK Las Vegas show. Changes were mainly seen in the smaller goods, according to the IDEX Online Polished Diamond Price Report.

 

Fancy cut goods, after the good demand seen at the JCK show, are the most volatile, and prices are moving both up and down.

 

Rounds

  • Prices of 0.18-0.22 cts I / VS2-SI1 gained 4.4% (VS2) and 5.0% (SI1) compared to last week, rising to $1,200 and $1,050 p/c respectively
  • A strong change in demand for 0.23-0.29 ct goods, mainly a decline in demand, resulting in F / VS1 losing 2.4% to $2,000 p/c, H / VS1 -2.8% to $1,750 p/c, I / VVS1 down 2.5% and I / SI2 -4.4%
  •  Conversely, 0.23-0.29 ct K / VS1 gained 5% and is now listed at $1,050 p/c
  • E color 0.45-0.49 cts in IF-VVS1 clarities are down about 1% to $4,700 and $4,050 p/c, respectively
  • F / I2 0.50-0.69 cts goods are up 3.2% and are now listed at $1,600 p/c on the IDEX Online Polished Diamond Price Report
  • 0.90-0.99 cts JK / I1 items changed their direction and are now down 4.0% (J) and 4.6% (K).
  • 1.00-1.24 cts J / SI1 lost 3.7%, listing at $5,200 p/c
  • After a quiet period, 1.25-1.49 ct D / SI1 goods are down 3.1% to $9,400
  • 1.50-1.99 cts E / IF are down 2.7% to $25,500
  • Lower price 2.00-2.99 cts are hurting and HI / I1 items, lost ~1.7%
  • 3 cts K / I1 goods keep sliding, losing another 3.7% and are now listed at $5,300 p/c, down from $5,500 last week.
  • 4.00-4.99 cts GHI /I1 softened by 2.5% (G), 2.6% (H) and 2.8% (I)

Fancy Cuts

  • The price of 0.23-0.29 cts E / VS1 declined 3% to $1,600 p/c
  • 0.40-0.44 cts D / VS2 declined 2.3% to $2,250 p/c and F / VS1 goods lost 2.6%, listing at $2,000
  • Top quality 0.45-0.49 cts DEFG / IF-VS1 items are down 3.5%-3.9%
  • DE / SI goods in the same size range are in increasing demand, gaining 2.9%-3.3%
  • 0.45-0.49 cts H / VS2 is up 3.25 to $1,600
  • Many price increases of 2.4%-3.4% for 0.70-0.79 cts  DEF / VVS1-SI1 items
  • Top quality 0.80-0.89 cts items, mainly in the higher DEF / IF-VVS2 range, are back in demand, up 2.4%-3.4%. I / SI1 +2.0% to $2,500
  • In One carats, mid color F-K in the high to mid clarities of IF-VS2-SI1, prices are up >2% as demand for Princess cuts is increasing. K / VVS2 gained another 3.0% and is listed at $3,500 p/c
  • 2 cts, IF to VVS2 are doing well, with prices up 1.6%-4%
