The IDEX Online Polished Price Report for June 28, 2012

(IDEX Online News) – Few changes in prices of round goods in the week following the Hong Kong show. Most changes are for SI2 and lower clarities, and mostly declines. 

 

Among fancy cuts, a second week of declines in the mid-color (G-L) and better clarities (IF-SI2) range of 0.45-0.49 carat goods. At the same time, better color and clarity goods 0.70-0.89 carats are in great demand, according to the IDEX Online Polished Diamond Price Report, which reflects changes in traders' asking prices.

 

Following are some of the price changes:

 

Rounds

  • Prices of 0.18-0.22 cts I / SI1 gains another 4.8%, rising to $1,100 p/c
  • G / SI2, 0.30-0.39 ct goods lost 3.5% are now listed at $1,400 p/c
  • 0.50-0.69, J Pique goods are down 3.0%-5.6%, as are I / I1 items
  • 0.70-0.79 ct L / I1 are rising, up 3.3% to $1,550 p/c
  • 0.80-0.89 D / SI1 declined 3.2% to $7,500 p/c
  • After a number of weeks of declines, 0.90-0.99 cts JK / I1 items are back in favor, bouncing back 4.6% (J) and 5.3% (K). J / SI2 are down 2.6% to $3,700 p/c
  • 1.00-1.24 cts E / SI1 lost another 2.4%, listed at $8,100 p/c, making them an attractive opportunity for quick movers
  • 2.00-2.99 cts G / I2 down 3.3% as J / I1 keeps gaining, up 2.1% to $4,800
  • 3 cts EF / SI2 goods down about 2.9%, as are I / VVS1 items
  • First pique G-J  4 cts are losing ground
  • 5 cts H / SI2 in growing demand, gaining 3.2% to $19,300 p/c.

Fancy Cuts

  • 0.18-0.22 cts D / VVS1 keep loosing favor in the market, declining this week by another 2.8% to $1,750 p/c
  • 0.40-0.44 cts D / I1 up 4.2% to $1,250 p/c
  • 0.45-0.49 cts mid-color (G-L) and better clarities (IF-SI2) keep losing ground, down 2.1%-4.4%
  • 0.50-0.69 cts F / VVS1-2 +3.5%-3.6% to $3,000-$2,850 p/c
  • Continued strong demand for top quality 0.70-0.79 cts. DEF / VVS1-VS1 is not letting up, expanding to GHI colors. Prices are up 1.0%-3.6%, depending on the item
  • 0.80-0.89 cts D-G / VVS1 goods are hot, up 1%-3%, the better the color, the more they increased this past week. EFG / IF are also in increasing demand, up 3%. D / IF is down 3%
  • Various price increases for top color and clarity 0.90-0.99 cts goods
  • One carat I1 goods in D / SI2-I1 up ~2.5%
  • E / VVS 1.25-1.49 are up 3% and are  K / VS2
  • 3 cts E / IF and F / SI3 fell back by 3%, while K / VS2 is firming, up 1.4% to $7,300 p/c.
  • 4 cts E / IF and SI3-I lost 1.3%-3%, an opportunity for buyers.
  • 5 cts GH / IF-VS1 are in lower demand
