Vivid Purplish Pink Sold for 4X Sotheby's Estimate

February 10, 13 by Edahn Golan

(IDEX Online News)
– A 0.51-carat vivid purplish pink, VS2, round cut diamond sold for $338,500 or more than $663,725 p/c on Thursday. The top estimate for the diamond was $80,000.

The auction of Important Jewels at Sotheby’s New York totaled $10.5 million, focusing on jewelry from leading fashion brands. The vivid purplish pink diamond is set in a Tiffany ring.

The auction's top seller was an E / SI1 6.46-carat diamond ring that more than tripled its high estimate, selling for $560,500.

“Today’s auction demonstrated the market’s continued appetite for exceptional diamonds,” commented Gary Schuler, Head of Sotheby’s Jewellery department in New York.
