DDC Holds Trade Mission to Dubai

(IDEX Online News) – Twenty-one New York Diamond Dealers Club (DDC) companies exhibited diamonds and diamond jewelry worth more than $150 million over the course of the four-day inaugural inter-bourse trade show at the Dubai Diamond Exchange.

Reuven Kaufman, president of the DDC, hailed the partnership as “a wonderful example of the possible projects that can take place when bourses around the world work together."

One member of the trade mission said, “Showing these goods in Dubai really highlighted the importance of the members of the DDC to the world diamond community and the strength of the New York market.”  

Prior to the event, the group had a briefing from Robert Bannerman, U.S. Commercial Attaché in Dubai, and Tanya Spencer, Political-Economic Section Chief at the U.S. Consulate in Dubai about the state of the Dubai market.

Feedback on the trip has been positive, with the general feeling being that participants were happy to get the opportunity to enter a new market and establish new business connections.” 

The DDC said it will be continuing its push to strengthen the ties of bourses around the world by participating in the Israel Diamond Exchange's upcoming U.S. Week in Israel. It is also working with bourses around the world to set up new missions for its members.
