Kristall Celebrates 50th Anniversary

(IDEX Online News) – Kristall Production Corporation, also known as Kristall Smolensk, celebrates today its 50th anniversary. The Ministry of Finance of the USSR founded the diamond polishing company on March 1, 1963.

The company is one of the oldest polishing companies in the world and the largest in Europe specializing in top quality work. Kristall is the firm responsible for the high quality work identified as the Russian Cut.

Within three years of its establishment, Kristall polished a million diamonds, and polished 80.5 million diamonds to date with a total weight of 9.3 million carats.

Today, Kristall employs 2,200 people at its factories and four overseas trading offices located in Antwerp, New York, Hong Kong and Dubai. The company is still government owned.
