Alrosa President Discusses Possible JV with Endiama

Angola's leading diamond resource, Catoca

(IDEX Online News) – Alrosa president Fyodor Andreev has discussed the possibility of forming a joint venture (JV) with Endiama during a visit to the Republic of Angola. Preliminary research by Alrosa’s specialists in Angola indicates a good chance of discovering a new large primary diamond deposits in the country.

During his trip Andreev met with Angolan president José Eduardo dos Santos. He also had meetings with Francisco Queiróz, minister of Geology, Mining and Industry, as well as with management of Endiama and Sociedade Mineira de Catoca.

As well as discussing the possible JV, they also discussed the prospect of developing and implementing the National Programme of Angola aimed at expanding the country’s resources of rough diamonds.

Prior to the trip, Andreev and Antonio Sumbula, chairman of the Administrative Council of Endiama, met in Moscow to discuss a possible framework for cooperation in the field of geological exploration.

Alrosa’s geologists will conduct preliminary work to assess the most promising areas in terms of the potential discovery of a primary diamond deposit.
