IDMA Cancels Istanbul Meeting, Reschedules for October in Antwerp

(IDEX Online News) – The International Diamond Manufacturers Association (IDMA) has decided not to take part in the Presidents Meeting in Istanbul this week due to very low registration from members.

An IDMA source said the meeting was going to be re-scheduled for October in Antwerp.

The Presidents Meeting is a biannual get-together of the leadership of IDMA and of the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB).

IDMA Chairman Maxim Shkadov and Secretary-General Ronnie VanderLinden told members of the decision and their disappointment in IDMA members' low interest.

The disturbances in Istanbul over the past two weeks also played a role in suppressing member interest.

Most members did not respond to requests for an indication of their interest in taking part. Registration was so low that IDMA would not even have had the required quorum needed to vote on issues or even make any decisions.
