Pink Panther Gang Member Escapes From Swiss Prison

Milan Poparic, aged 34, was jailed for six years and eight months for his part in a 2009 robbery in Neuchatel. He escaped from the prison in the west of Switzerland last Thursday with a fellow inmate.

The prisoners were aided by two accomplices who provided two ladders to climb the prison walls and a getaway van.

The accomplices fired at prison guards with automatic weapons. No-one was injured.

Swiss police alerted border guards and the French police since the prison is near the border with France.

Authorities believe the Pink Panther gang was involved in the escape.
