GIA Provides DiamondCheck to Indian Diamond & Colorstone Assn

March 27, 14 by Albert Robinson

(IDEX Online)
– The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) has donated one of its DiamondCheck™ machines to the Indian Diamond & Colorstone Association (IDCA).

The device examines colorless stones in the D to N range and identifies natural, untreated diamonds.

It suggests cases where more analysis of a particular stone is called for to determine whether it is treated or synthetic.

The donation comes in the wake of industry fears sparked by the mixing of undisclosed synthetic diamonds in batches of natural diamonds.

The machine can be used free of charge by all IDCA members.

The GIA is providing the machine to bourses and organizations across the world.

The GIA has provided the machines to the Israel Diamond Exchange, the Diamond Dealers Club of New York, and Diamond Dealers Club of South Africa.
