IDE Preparing For September International Diamond Week

July 03, 14 by Albert Robinson

(IDEX Online) – Organizers of the Israel Diamond Exchange's (IDE) September edition of the International Diamond Week are putting measures into place due to the latest changes in the polished diamond fair.

Many hundreds of diamantaires and diamond buyers will take part in the four-day trading event that brings together diamond dealers from Israel, India, Belgium, the United States and many other countries, on the IDE trading floor, with more than $1 billion of polished goods on offer.

"Some two years after the IDE first introduced the concept of the International Diamond Week, we have seen this event mature and become an important inter-bourse diamond trading event," said IDE President Shmuel Schnitzer.

"By bringing a large number of our own members onto the trading floor, joined by a good number of members of the Antwerp Diamond Bourse (Beurs voor Diamanthandel) and the Diamond Dealers Club of New York (DDC-NY), we're creating a unique, temporary diamond trading platform, where the participating diamantaires buy, sell and network. We know from experience how valuable these event are and we're particularly excited that members of the Antwerp Diamond Bourse are joining us for the first time.

Antwerp Diamond Bourse President Marcel Pruwer said he, together with Board colleagues and members, were looking forward to participating. "The bourses are clearly on the move and the new collective dynamic will be a significant game-changer in the diamond and jewelry industry. More value will be created, more opportunity, more liquidity, a far bigger playing field and better margins and profitability for all stakeholders in the global diamond trade."

The IDE is again offering qualified and confirmed buyers up to four free hotel nights in designated venue hotels. "We have secured blocks of rooms at several hotels close to the Ramat Gan Diamond Exchange complex," said IDE General Manager Moti Besser. "They will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis, and therefore, we urge interested buyers to register quickly and not to wait."
