Gemmological Institute of India Inaugurates AMS Machine at BDB

August 07, 14 by Danielle Max

(IDEX Online News) – The Gemmological Institute of India (GII) has started using the Automated Melee Screening (AMS) machine installed in the Diamond Detection Resource Center (DDRC) at the Bharat Diamond Bourse (BDB) in Mumbai.

“We are glad to have the AMS machine in the center as they can rapidly detect synthetic stones in parcels of small diamonds ranging from 0.01 - 0.20 carats in a cost effective manner,” said GJEPC chairman Vipul Shah.

“It addresses a market need for rapid and affordable detection equipment for smaller sized diamonds, which will be of immense benefit for India. The DDRC will enable small traders, who cannot afford the machine, to get their parcels tested at an affordable cost. This will be a great support to the diamond industry.”

The machine was inaugurated by Shri Anoop V. Mehta, president of the BDB and Shri Arunkumar Mehta, Rosy Blue (India) Pvt. Ltd.
