Petra Diamonds Sells 232-Ct Stone For $15M

October 27, 14 by Albert Robinson

(IDEX Online News)
– Petra Diamonds has sold a 232.08-carat white diamond recovered at the Cullinan mine in South Africa last month for $15,219,219 million ($65,577 per carat).

The stone was bought by Diacore, a multinational diamond company which supplies rough and polished diamonds for customers around the world. It has manufacturing facilities in Botswana, South Africa, Namibia and New York and manufactures exceptional diamonds and high-end jewelry. The firm crafted the 203.04-carat De Beers Millennium Star and the Pink Star – a 59.60-carat flawless fancy vivid pink diamond.

Johan Dippenaar, CEO of Petra, commented: "We are delighted to have achieved the sales result for this exceptional white stone, which is an outstanding example of the very high quality, large diamonds produced at Cullinan."
