India’s Polished Exports Drop In October

– India's polished diamond exports in October fell to $2.22 billion from $2.60 billion a year before, the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) reported.

 

In volume terms, exports dropped to 3.16 million carats from 3.79 million carats in October 2013.

 

For the April-October period, there was a 9.3-percent decline in exports of polished goods to $14.3 billion. India's fiscal year runs from April 1 to March 31.

 

In imports of polished goods, there was an 8.9-percent increase in the April-October period to $4.34 billion.

 

As for rough diamond imports, there was a 17-percent decrease on the year to $1.22 billion last month. In April-October, they increased by 6.0 percent to $10.4 billion.

 

Exports of rough diamonds dropped by 10.8 percent to $874.1 million in April-October.
