Chow Tai Fook’s ‘A Heritage in Bloom’ Features 104-Carat Forevermark Diamond

September 06, 15 by Danielle Max

(IDEX Online News) – Chow Tai Fook has unveiled the “A Heritage in Bloom” necklace in Hong Kong. The creation features 24 D / IF diamonds cut from the Cullinan Heritage, a 507.55-carat Type IIa rough diamond discovered in 2009. The center of the piece is a 104-carat round brilliant cut diamond Forevermark diamond.

In addition, the piece also features thousands of white diamonds and hundreds of pink diamonds, totaling 383.4 carat, as well as more than 100 pieces of green jadeite and mutton fat white jade.

The piece, which was created by jewelry artist Wallace Chan, took more than 47,000 hours to create. It can be worn in 27 different styles, a significance rooted in the Chinese concept of eternity.

“Today we complete a journey we began five years ago, and we could not be more proud of the exceptional and historic creation that has emerged,” said Dr. Henry Cheng, chairman of Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group

“A Heritage in Bloom” embodies Chow Tai Fook’s commitment to Chinese culture, patronage of the arts and status as a diamond expert. We consider it to be a work of art that will last the ages as the crown jewel of the Chow Tai Fook brand.”

The 104-carat, 3-Excellent, diamond was graded and inscribed with the Forevermark icon and identification number. The diamond, which took three years to cut and polish, was given a bespoke inscription number 20090950755, chosen to signify the recovery date (200909) and the carat weight (507.55) of the rough diamond discovered in Southern Africa.

Chow Tai Fook bought the Cullinan Heritage in 2010 for $35.3 million, setting a record price for a rough diamond.
