Naomi Campbell Throws a Punch When Asked about Conflict Diamond

April 26, 10 by IDEX Online Staff Reporter

It all started with a small saying by actress Mia Farrow, who told ABC News in the U.S. that top model Naomi Campbell got a “blood diamond” from deposed Liberian President Charles Taylor.

Taylor is currently standing trial for his part in the West African wars that ravaged Sierra Leone and Liberia, wars that gave rise to the use of diamonds to pay for weapons, otherwise known as blood diamonds.

Farrow claimed that Campbell told her that she was given such a diamond from Taylor.

In a short interview with ABC News, Campbell said, “I didn’t receive a diamond and I’m not going to speak about that.” When the interviewer continued to ask about the diamond, Campbell stormed off, punching the camera held by the producer in the process.

Prosecutors say they do not plan to question Campbell about the diamond or ask her to testify against Taylor.
