Israel Exchange Explains International Diamond Week Events At WDC

June 24, 14 by Albert Robinson

(IDEX Online News) – The Israel Diamond Exchange (IDE) showcased its International Diamond Week programs at the 36th World Diamond Congress (WDC) in Antwerp, Belgium, last week as an example of how diamond bourses can create focused marketing events and network with other bourses to widen and improve the cooperation between the bourses affiliated to the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB).

IDE President Shmuel Schnitzer, who is also an Honorary WFDB President, said that the World Diamond Congress was the perfect platform to demonstrate the potential power the WFDB-affiliated bourse can realize on all five continents.

"At last week's congress, the WFDB accepted two more diamond bourses to its ranks: the Diamond Bourse of Canada and the Korea Diamond Exchange, bringing the total number of bourses in the WFDB to 30. In other words, by accepting these two bourses, the members of the WFDB bourses are offered yet another gateway to markets that earlier may have been more difficult to access," Schnitzer said.

He added that the IDE's International Diamond Week events provided a trading platform that brings members from bourses together and creates events of benefit to both sides. "For instance, the September edition of the International Diamond Week is a joint effort of the IDE, the Diamond Dealers Club of New York, and the Antwerp Diamond Bourse," he commented.

IDE General Manager Moti Besser said the IDE's presentation of its successful efforts to generate more added value for its membership had been well received. "In the past, diamond bourses rarely expended specific efforts to be proactive and create a highly visible corporate identity. By demonstrating our efforts, we hope we have motivated other bourses to follow suit and explore their own options," Besser stated.
