Dubai Aiming To Boost Image of Jewelry Show

September 20, 04 by Albert Robinson

Senior officials from the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), the organizers of the International Jewellery Dubai show (IJD), and Dubai Gold and Jewellery Group (DGJG) recently held talks on how to promote the show among traders and consumers worldwide.

The groups aim to build on the increasing importance of Dubai in the global gold and jewelry trade to position the show on the international map, on the same level as the Vicenza (Italy) and Basel exhibitions.

“IJD has grown tremendously in stature and while it is the most significant show of its kind in the region, we feel that the time is right to examine ways to further enhance its standing on the world stage,” said DWTC Director General Helal Saeed Khalfan Al Marri.

“With Dubai playing an increasingly important part in the worldwide gold and jewelry trade, thanks to its strategic position and strong trade ties with the region, an exhibition like International Jewellery Dubai has tremendous scope for growth.”

Tawhid Abdullah, Chairman of the Dubai Gold and Jewellery Group, said promoting the Dubai show would be carried out through road shows in key markets and invitations to trade delegations from these markets.

The initiative aims to attract interest from jewelry traders worldwide who are interested in bringing their goods before potential clients in the Middle East and the sub-continent region.

The IJD, which marks its 10th anniversary this year, is predicted to feature more than 400 exhibitors compared with 226 last year and there will also be an Italian Pavilion for the first time.
