Sotheby’s Geneva Sets World Record For Jewelry Auction

The ‘Graff Vivid Yellow’.

(IDEX Online News) – Sotheby’s Geneva said it set a world record for a jewelry auction at its Magnificent Jewels and Noble Jewels sale which raised $141,492,079.

The auction house said seven records were established. A record for a yellow diamond was set with the sale of the ‘Graff Vivid Yellow’, a 100.09-carat daffodil yellow diamond ring sold for $16,347,847.

This gem of extraordinary beauty, fire and brilliance is one of the largest fancy vivid yellow diamonds in the world.

Following today’s sale, David Bennett, Chairman of Sotheby’s Switzerland and Chairman of the Jewellery Department for Europe and the Middle East, commented: “100 carats is a magical number when it comes to diamonds.
