Sodiam Planning to Open China Office

March 15, 05 by Albert Robinson

Sodiam, the marketing arm of Angolan National Company of Diamonds Endiama, is planning to open an office in China or Hong Kong this year following the opening of offices in Israel and Belgium last year.

Endiama said the main aims of the Asian office would be to market Angolan diamonds in the Asian market, to expand the company's knowledge of the global diamond industry and to attract large investments to the country.

Endiama is investigating the Chinese and Hong Kong markets to find the best location for its office. It is not known at this point if it will open the office independently or in partnership with a big rough diamond trader, as it did with Leviev in Israel and Lazare Kaplan in Antwerp.

Angola’s annual diamond production is estimated at $900 million.
