25% of U.S. Couples Delaying Marriage Because of Economy

A recent survey of American consumers found that some 25 percent of couples that planed to get wed have postponed it because of the economic recession.
According to the Jewelry Consumer Opinion Council (JCOC) survey of 362 JCOC panel members, in response to the question “Are you or someone close to you postponing getting married because of the economic recession?” Some 71 percent responded “no’; 25 percent responded ‘yes’ and 3 percent responded “for other reasons.”
When asked if the budget for the rings will be different, 42 percent said they will spend less while 17 percent said they will in fact spend more.
