Canada's Largest Diamond Jewelry Manufacturer Calls it Quits

November 14, 06 by IDEX Online Staff Reporter

Citing cheaper labor markets in India and the Far East, Canada's largest manufacturer of gold and diamond jewelry, A&A Jewellers Limited has closed its doors. The closure means that hundreds of employees have been laid off.

The east Toronto plant has been the primary supplier of jewelry to major retailers like Birks, Sears, Wal-Mart for more than 40 years.

The firm is liquidating its stock, offering the entire inventory at low prices, including gold, precious stone, and diamond earrings, necklaces, bracelets, pendants, and charms.
