Montblanc Honors Marlene Dietrich with Commemorative Pen
August 13, 07
Luxury pen, watch and jewelry design company Montblanc is honoring German-born actress, singer and entertainer Marlene Dietrich with two commemorative pen editions. The “Special Edition Marlene Dietrich” is made of black precious resin with platinized fittings. It is completely round in the middle and tapered at the ends, with a crowning of mother-of-pearl inlay. The clip is designed like a tie and finished with a sapphire, to symbolize the actress’ eyes. The design is inspired by Dietrich's iconic trouser suits and is available either as a fountain or ballpoint pen. The “Marlene Dietrich 1901 Commemorative Edition” fountain pen, which celebrates the entertainer's year of birth, is limited to 1901 pieces. It is set in 925 sterling silver and edged with brilliant cut diamonds. The matching tie-clip is set with brilliant cut diamonds and topped with a .123 carat dark-blue princess cut sapphire. The cap ring also includes 16 diamonds, with a total carat weight of .179, and blue mother-of-pearl inlay. The total diamond weight comes to .19 carats. The special designs are a part of the company’s effort to honor personalities of cultural history. In 2005, Montblanc released a commemorative pen to honor Greta Garbo on the occasion of her 100th birthday.
