Continued Strong Diamond Sales at Hong Kong Show
September 27, 07The Hong Kong Watch and Jewellery Fair is still running, and it is clearly a success for diamond sellers. Walking around Hall 4, the Hall of Diamonds, dealers are reporting strong sales.
As reported already, demand for bigger stones of lower colors is hot. Buyers are willing to compromise some as the higher colors are scarce, and looking for the next best thing.
The strongest sellers and buyers are Indians, looking to satisfy, among others, a growing local market.
In Hall 5, where more diamond traders are found together with many jewelers, some dealers reported a slightly softer sales situation, though those that came prepared were reaping the rewards.
Sales in the Fine Design Pavilion were strong across the board, and one dealer joked that he is packing and leaving early – as he nearly sold his entire stock in two days.
The usual bevy of seminars and announcements took place as well. One such event was the evening reception of the IDL, which gave diamond traders a glance at the lab and color grading machine in a video presentation.
