Couture Gold Rose Win for Harari

June 03, 09 by IDEX Online Staff Reporter

Israeli jeweler Yossi Harari won first place in the "Haut Couture" category at the Couture Las Vegas 2009 Show. The winning ring, named "The Wild Rose," is handcrafted out of 24 karat gold and "gilver," a combination combining 25 percent gold and 75 percent silver alloy, giving a signature black, oxidized hue.

The ring contains a total of more than 120 carats of gems. In addition to a large, 97.25 carat fire opal, the piece is set with sapphires, emeralds, and cognac diamonds.

Harari has carved out a reputation for melding together designs of Byzantine and Etruscan origin in his own modern and unique style.

The jeweler has been consecutively nominated for the prize in the past four years, positioned among the three finalists. He won the same category at the Couture Town & Country Design Awards in 2007 for his "Helen" Necklace.
