HK Show Organizers to Hold Mumbai Fair in December

UBM is banking on India's growth to back another large trade show, this one in Mumbai

(IDEX Online News) - UBM, organizer of the September Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair, is launching a new industry fair Mumbai Jewellery & Gem Fair. The first edition of the show will be held on December 9-11, 2011.

The Mumbai fair will be a business-to-business jewelry trade event that is planned to include exhibitors of diamonds, pearls, gemstones, silver jewelry, fine finished jewelry, machinery & equipment, software and allied products, packaging & display from India and the world.

It intends to attract jewelry wholesalers, retailers, jewelry manufacturers, diamond and gemstones suppliers, service providers, trade & government organizations and international sourcing delegates.

"This launch is a direct response to the market," said UBM Asia President and CEO Jime Essink.

In addition to the Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair, UBM already organizes two shows in the south of India: Gems & Jewellery India International Exhibition (GJIIE) in Chennai and Hyderabad Jewellery, Pearl & Gem Fair (HJF). Together these shows attract over 400 trade exhibitors and 18,000 trade visitors.

"December is the best time to visit India, the weather is very pleasant and there is no rain. More importantly the timing allows Indian buyers to purchase ahead of the key New Year trading season," said Director of Business Development – Jewellery Group Letitia Chow.

The Hong Kong show, despite the presence of many Indian buyers, was not very successful this year. The IIJS show in August in Mumbai, on the other hand, is a continued success, a fact that probably did not go unnoticed by UBM.
