Namakwa Diamonds to Tender Lesotho and DRC Diamonds
October 06, 10Namakwa Diamonds will hold a tender of 16,000 carats of rough diamonds in Johannesburg on 13 October, the integrated diamond resource group said today (Wednesday).
The tendered goods will include more than 6,000 carats from Namakwa’s kimberlite operations in Lesotho, operated by Storm Mountain Diamonds, and 10,000 carats from its alluvial operations in the Tshikapa Triangle in the DRC.
“The Lesotho production meets the commercial demands of today’s market, with superb quality in the 2 to 4 carat range,” said Namakwa’s Head of Sales & Trading Heno Kruger. “Likewise, the product from our river concessions in the DRC, demonstrates quality that is rarely seen with stones of this type from the region,” he added.
Namakwa has mining operations in Lesotho, South Africa, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Namibia, with a reported resource base of over 25 million carats.
