First International Fundraiser for Diamond Empowerment Fund

IDEX Online News) - The Diamond Empowerment Fund (DEF) will hold their first international fundraising event, DEF London: Diamonds in the Sky, to be held November 8. Russell Simmons will host the event that honors De Beers Chairman Nicky Oppenheimer.

The benefit will include a cocktail party and auctioning off diamond jewelry, travel packages and celebrity experiences.

An online fundraiser will coincide with the London event, running November 2-30 at www.charitybuzz.com.

Oppenheimer and Peters Sands, group chief executive of Standard Chartered bank will be honored for “their business leadership, strong commitment to corporate social responsibility, and their numerous commitments specifically towards health and educational empowerment for the benefit of Africa,” DEF announced.

Sparkling within London’s Altitude 360, the event will feature a unique mixture of international leaders in the world’s diamond market, London business, social and philanthropic elite and the current supporters of the DEF’s mission to raise monies to go towards supporting education initiatives that will change the lives of African communities based around diamond mines alongside education for Africa.
