Belgium’s Polished Diamond Exports $949.5M
December 21, 10(IDEX Online News) - The value of Belgium’s net polished diamond exports increased 12.8 percent in November, totaling $43.7 million, based on figures released by the AWDC. The volume of net exports was 24,406 carats compared to an overhang of 4,922 carats in November 2009. Net exports averaged $1,791.16 p/c.
Gross exports by Antwerp’s diamantaires were 711,555 carats worth $949.5 million, increasing 22 percent and 28.4 percent respectively. Exports averaged $1,334.41 p/c.
Polished diamond imports in November averaged $1,318.19 p/c for imports of 687,149 carats with a stated value of $905.8 million.
In the first 11 months of 2010, exports increased 28.3 percent to $10.08 billion.
Belgium’s min export destinations in November were the U.S. ($285.7 million), Hong Kong ($182.3 million) and Israel ($113.6 million).
