(IDEX Online News) - The Dubai Diamond Exchange (DDE) hosted an auction of polished diamonds, selling 34,000 carats for a total of $7.2 million. Buyers were offered a range of goods of various sizes and qualities with the largest diamond being a 21-carat diamond.
More than 130 people, representing 60 diamond companies attended the three-day auction that took place January 18-20. Included amongst these were diamond dealers, suppliers and manufacturers from India, Belgium, Hong Kong, Japan and Thailand, among others.
Diasqua DMCC organized the auction, a diamond trading company, in what is described as the first polished diamond auction of its type in the Middle East.
