Vasant Mehta Appointed to ECGC Board

(IDEX Online News) - Vasant Mehta, the former chairman of the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), has been appointed a part-time director on the board of the Export Credit Guarantee Corporation (ECGC) of India by India’s Ministry of Commerce. Mehta’s appointment is for a period of two years.

“I am happy to be part of ECGC board of directors. It will be my continuous endeavor to work in the interest of Indian exporters," Mehta said after his appointment.

Mehta is a second-generation diamantaire who has been involved with the diamond industry for over 40 years. He also currently serves as a director of the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) set up by the Ministry of Finance, and is a special advisor to China Diamond Industry.

As a representative of the GJEPC and vice president of International Diamond Manufacturers Association (IDMA), he is actively involved in safeguarding the interest of diamond manufacturers and spreading the message of best practices in the trade.
