GIA Appoints Jan Iverson Gems & Gemology Editor-in-Chief
May 15, 11(IDEX Online News) - Jan Iverson is the new Editor-in-Chief of Gems & Gemology (G&G), GIA’s award-winning quarterly research journal. G&G publishes, in print and online, the latest peer-reviewed research on diamonds and colored stones—where they are found, their special characteristics, simulants and synthetics, treatments and identification techniques.
“Iverson’s appointment, effective June 1, will lead the collaboration of all units across the organization and drive a practical application of how technology can be used to augment both traditional and new media to better serve the readers of GIA publications,” the organization said in a release.
Iverson brings more than 10 years of international publishing and new media experience to her new role. Prior to joining GIA, Iverson was with Physicians’ Education Resource (PER) in Dallas, a continuing medical education company, where she successfully managed a portfolio of peer-reviewed print and multimedia products to ensure fail-safe medical education.
She has received two UK industry awards for publishing and business development, and been recognized for numerous award-winning campaigns.
“Jan’s strong global publication experience and innovative editorial vision will strengthen GIA’s continued initiatives in sharing gemological content to the public through the most robust, accessible and technologically-advanced media channels,” said Donna Baker, GIA president and CEO.
Brendan Laurs, who previously served as the interim editor-in-chief, has been appointed as the G&G editor and technical specialist.
