Over 22,000 Beneficiaries Celebrate Diamond Education Trust Jubilee

(IDEX Online News) – The Vidyamandir Trust, an initiative set up by the late diamond dealer Kantilal Chhotalal Mehta 60 years ago, recently celebrated its diamond jubilee. The two-day celebrations included an event where over 22,000 past and present students congregated for an emotional get-together.

The initiative began as a small initiative to boost primary education in Mehta’s hometown of Palanpur in Gujarat. Today it has a staff of over 400 with activities in 124 institutions and 14 campuses. The trust caters to over 6,000 children from a variety of backgrounds and with diverse needs.

Over 20 new buildings and projects were inaugurated as part of the celebrations which were presided over by the Indian Minister for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, Praful Patel. The minister referred to the Vidyamandir trust as “a center for excellence” that had transformed the Banaskantha region that Palanpur is located.
