Indian Company Grows Record 50.25-ct Diamond

(IDEX Online) - An Indian company says it has broken its own record for the world's biggest polished lab grown diamond, at 50.25 carats.
Ethereal Green says it took eight months to grow the Type IIa crystal using chemical vapor deposition (CVD). It was then cut and and polished into an emerald-cut G color, VS2 clarity gem named Shiphra.
The same company announced last month that it had grown a 34.59-carat emerald-cut stone (also G / VS2). And in June 2022 it set a record with a 30.18-carat stone (H / VS2).
That was, in turn, more than twice the size of the previous record holder, a 16.41-carat princess-cut diamond from Shanghai Zhengshi Technology, in China, in January 2022.
"By pushing the boundaries of what is possible, we aim to redefine the perception of lab-grown diamonds," said Hirav Anil Virani, managing director of Mumbai-based Ethereal Green
The 50.25-carat stone was certified by IGI (International Gemological Institute) and has been on display at JCK in Las Vegas.
