Elizabeth Taylor's Yellow Diamond Ring for Sale, Again
November 24, 25
(IDEX Online) - A fancy vivid yellow diamond ring that belonged to Elizabeth Taylor is to be offered for sale by Christie's New York with an estimate of $120,000 to $180,000.
The same ring was sold, also by Christie's New York, in December 2011, when it fetched $962,500. It carried the same $120,000 to $180,000 estimate.
The ring (pictured) was part of The Collection of Elizabeth Taylor: The Legendary Jewels, that raised $116m and smashed the record at the time for a single collection at auction.
The 2.62-carat VVS1-clarity, marquise brilliant-cut stone is set in a Bulgari platinum ring, surrounded by pear, marquise and round white diamonds.
The ring was a 30th birthday gift from the singer Eddie Fisher, the fourth of her seven husbands, in 1962 (eight marriages, seven husbands - she married Richard Burton twice).
