Alrosa "Achieves Targets" with 29.7m Carats in 2025
December 24, 25
(IDEX Online) - Alrosa yesterday (23 December) said its full-year diamond production for 2025 would be 29.7m carats, a 10 per cent drop on the previous year.
The state-controlled Russian miner said it had achieved its targets for the year, in spite of a protracted downturn in the diamond market.
Production in 2024 was 33m carats, in 2023 it was 34.6m and in 2022 it was 35.6m.
Alrosa CEO Pavel Marinychev said the company remained stable and profitable despite the downturn, together with the pressure of G7 sanctions, imposed from 2024.
Alrosa suspended production at low-margin deposits from April, in response to market conditions.
It reported a 24 per cent drop in revenue for the first half of 2025, but saw profits increase, largely due to the forced sale of its 41 per cent stake in Catoca, Angola's state-controlled diamond miner.
In a statement, Aisen Nikolaev, head of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia), where Alrosa is based, said: "2025 was a challenging year for the company.
"However, despite these conditions, Alrosa fully met its key production targets and implemented a robust social policy, which we are jointly implementing."
