Another Quarter of Stability for Fancy Color Prices

August 05, 26 by John Jeffay

(IDEX Online) - Prices of fancy color diamonds remained virtually unchanged again during the three months to 30 June (Q2 2026), according to the FCRF (Fancy Color Research Foundation).

The overall Fancy Color Diamond Index was down 0.1% during the quarter, following on from a 0.2% decline in Q1 2026, a 0.1% drop in Q4 2025 and no movement (0.0%) in Q3 2025.

Over the trailing twelve months, the Index has declined by 0.5%. Prices overall have largely flattened, with only a slight downward drift, and the pace of decline has eased considerably compared with the last couple of years.

FCRF says was broadly stable, with modest, uneven moves across colors, sizes, and intensities.

"Overall, the second-quarter results point to a resilient and broadly stable market," it said in an update published on 1 August.

"Variations remained concentrated within individual colors, intensities and carat sizes, while the overall Index showed little material movement."

Pinks were up 0.1% overall, with stronger gains in 2-3 carat stones and Fancy Vivid (+0.5%).

Yellows were down 0.3% overall. Fancy Vivid increased 0.1%, Fancy Intense decreased 1.3%.

Blues were down 0.4% overall. There were rises for stones under 1.0-carats but losses for larger goods.

"The second-quarter results reflect a well-anchored market, with pricing remaining firmly established across the broader Index," said the FCRF.

"Growth in selected size and intensity combinations, together with unchanged valuations in several segments, helped offset limited declines and supported an overall picture of stability."
