Another Monthly Rise in Hong Kong Jewelry Sales
August 06, 26
(IDEX Online) - Sales of jewelry and other hard luxury goods in Hong Kong increased yet again in June for the 13th consecutive month.
The year-on-year increase was 20.1%, to HKD 5.49 billion (USD 700 million), the Census and Statistics Department (C&SD) said in an update (on 4 August).
Sales in the "jewelry, watches and clocks, and valuable gifts" category outperformed all other retail groups. Total sales across all categories increased 4.6% in the same period, to HKD 31.5 billion (USD 4.02 billion).
"Growth was broad-based across many retail categories," said a government spokesperson.
"Continued economic expansion, rising local incomes, and a steady increase in inbound visitors are expected to provide support to the sector."
But they cautioned that external uncertainties constituted a downside risk.
The 20.1% increase in luxury sales is down slightly on the +25.8% in May.
June 2025 proved to be a turning point after many months of negative growth. There has been positive growth every subsequent month, with a peak of +27.2% in March 2026.
